Why Cherryfy Requires Accessibility Services

Provider: Cherryfy App, LLC
Updated: September 1, 2026

Rideshare offers appear and disappear in a matter of seconds. For drivers with motor or cognitive focus needs, manually analyzing these offers while driving is unsafe and inaccessible. Cherryfy uses the AccessibilityService API to:

Read-Aloud/Visual Clarity: Capture offer details (price, distance, and time) directly from the screen as they appear in the Uber or Lyft driver apps.

Cognitive Support: Transform complex offer data into simplified, high-contrast profitability metrics, reducing the cognitive load required to make safe business decisions.

Our "Active Pulse" methodology ensures that your privacy is protected through local processing:

Local Processing: Screenshots of your offers are processed locally on your device using Google ML Kit. We do not "scrape" platform servers or access your account credentials.

Zero Image Retention: Images are processed on your device and discarded immediately after text is extracted. No visual data is ever transmitted to or stored on our servers. If you enable Save Screenshots to Gallery (off by default), a stamped copy of each offer is saved to your device's photo library. These copies remain on your device only, under your control, until you delete them.

Minimal Data Upload: Offer analytics (price, distance, estimated $/mile and $/hour), your device model and OS version, and session activity metrics are synced to your private account on our secure Firebase servers. If you use the session tracker or submit a diagnostic report, that information is also uploaded. Nothing is shared with third parties for advertising.

Once an offer is analyzed, the service enables Cherryfy to display a non-intrusive floating banner. This ensures the driver never has to switch apps or take their eyes off the road to calculate profitability.

To comply with both platform Terms of Service and Google Play safety standards, the Cherryfy Accessibility Service:

  • Does NOT automate the acceptance or rejection of rides.
  • Does NOT modify any settings or interact with buttons on the third-party driver app.
  • Does NOT bypass any system security or user privacy settings.
